TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -- Deep tropical moisture will cross the state today and tomorrow increasing rain chances. Extra clouds and rain around will keep temperatures below average, with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 but it will still be quite muggy.

Rain chances will increase to a 70% today for widespread showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. Although there will be breaks in the rain, rain chances will increase back up to a 60% again tomorrow.
Brief localized flooding is possible with some of the slower moving downpours.

There will still be showers and storms Friday afternoon and evening pushing toward the coast but the coverage of rain will be a lot lower.
Even drier air moves in for the weekend limiting rain chances to just a 20 to 30% each afternoon. With less rain around, it will be a very hot weekend with highs between 94 and 96° and feels like temperature is back up to 110°.

Rain chances will increase once again next week.

The National Hurricane Center is currently highlighting the tropical moisture crossing the state for possible tropical development once it moves away from the Tampa Bay area and into the Gulf.

The chance of development is low, just a 10% as of Wednesday morning, and the Tampa Bay area impacts will remain the same with widespread downpours Wednesday and Thursday.
