SANIBEL, Fla (WFLA) — Five kittens were saved from a near-disastrous ending after firefighters rescued them from a locked car on Sunday.
According to the Saniel Fire Rescue District, the owner of the vehicle accidentally locked her keys in the car, while the baby animals were inside.
While the vehicle was still running with the air conditioning on, fire crews said the kittens patiently awaited for the responders as they lay in a tub in the passenger seat.
According to NBC affiliate WBBH, the kittens were just 10 days old.
After successfully unlocking the vehicle's door, "they were happy to be held and take pictures with all of them on scene," the fire department said.
