ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — The team at Gatorland Orlando had to step in after one of their residents, Jaws, accidentally swallowed a shoe.
In a video posted on social media, Gatorland's Savannah Boan explains how the team went about trying to help Jaws cough up the shoe.
A few days prior, a tennis shoe fell into his enclosure and Jaws snapped it up.
Fortunately, park staff saw him eat the shoe and the team was able to make a rescue plan.
A large, foreign object like a shoe could cause serious problems or even kill an alligator if it got stuck in its stomach.
The team was able to safely remove the shoe and while Jaws is a little disgruntled, he's now free to fill his belly with something more appropriate for a gator.
