POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd talked about a case he had "never seen before" during his Facebook "morning briefing" on Wednesday morning.
Judd said deputies got a call that a man, who was later identified as 51-year-old Walter Frymire, was naked inside a restroom at a public park.
When deputies arrived, they reported that Frymire was wearing all of his clothes.
"So we're nice and we sent him out of the park and trespass him and tell him 'we're not going to arrest you,'" Judd said.
After that encounter, Judd said Frymire went across the street to a railroad train track and trespassed again, so deputies arrested him.
He was charged with trespassing and possession of meth.
The sheriff said Frymire had already been arrested 25 times and had been in the state prison five times.
"You ain't going to believe this," Judd said. "So we put everybody through a body scanner to make sure that they're not trying to bring guns, knives, and drugs into the jail. Well, you might have thought Walter was bringing drugs into the jail. He brought a thermos into the jail. That's right. He put it up the exit ramp. You know what I mean?"
Frymire told deputies that he had the thermos inside his body for 24 hours, Judd said.
"The deputy saved his life," the sheriff said. "Oh, and that was after Walter threatened to kill the deputy for arresting him."
Judd said Frymire was taken to a hospital to get the thermos removed.
"They had to find a specialist. It was quite the ordeal," Judd said.
