TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Good news, Bucs fans!
Wide Receiver Chris Godwin and All-Pro Left Tackle Tristan Wirfs returned to the practice field at One Buc Place on Thursday, marking the first time the two Buccaneers stars have hit the field since the 2024 season.
Both starters have been dealing with injuries. Godwin dislocated his ankle during a game against the Baltimore Ravens last October, while Wirfs had knee surgery in July.
The Bucs have both players practicing in a limited capacity, the beginning of a multi-week process to get the pair back into playing shape.
NFL reporter Judy Battista reports Godwin will not play until October, but this is an encouraging first step towards getting back into the lineup.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport said the team is hopeful for a Week 5 return for Godwin, which would get him back on the field against the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 5th.
Wirfs' timetable is less clear, but the Buccaneers are hoping their high-caliber offense will be back to full strength sooner rather than later.
