POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Polk County public schools are rezoning to balance enrollment in schools due to a significant population shift that has occurred over the last decade.
Comprehensive rezoning and adjustments will be determined by the most efficient use of available resources and to better reflect student enrollment.
This process will readjust school attendance boundaries across the county, though a decision has yet to be made on how the high school boundaries will be adjusted.
The 2025-26 school year will continue with the current boundaries that are in place.
A definitive course of action will be determined and shared with the public for feedback over the next few months, and the school board could make a final decision and approve new high school boundaries as early as October.
The goal is to complete the district rezoning and implement the new boundaries by the start of the 2026-27 school year.
