RIVERVIEW, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was arrested Thursday after a deputy said he was involved in a hit-and-run.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, at 3:37 p.m., a deputy said he witnessed a crash near Gibsonton Drive and Fern Hill Drive involving a white SUV. In the crash the SUV sustained front-end damage before attempting to quitely leave the scene.
The deputy followed the vehicle and said he watched as it slowed to a stop and a man exited. The SUV than ran north on Alafia Preserve Avenue.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office tracked the suspect, identified as Marlon Mullins, 24, to a building's breezeway where he was pretending to be a resident and on the phone with his mom.
Video shows Mullins, shirtless after discarding the t-shirt he was wearing in the crash behind a trash can, talking on the phone as deputies arrest him.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has charged him with multiple charges, including driving while his license is revoked, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
