ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A plane was forced to turn around Sunday after receiving a bomb threat from a disgruntled passenger.
At 2:05 p.m., an Allegiant Air flight took off from St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport en route to Roanoke.
According to PIE’s on-call public information officer, two passengers aboard the plane got into a verbal altercation shortly after takeoff, prompting one of them to threaten that there was a bomb on board.
The plane turned around and returned to St. Pete, where police apprehended the suspect who made the threat and took them into custody.
The plane was searched, and no bomb was found.
