TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Bay Sun FC will celebrate the team's first championship with a boat parade along the Hillsborough River on Wednesday.
The festivities will kick off at 1 p.m. when fans and Tampa Mayor Jane Castor will gather at the Armature Works Pier to welcome the team.
Sun players and coaches will board boats in downtown Tampa and travel north along the Hillsborough River. They will arrive at the Armature Works Pier near West 7th Avenue and Market Street around 2 p.m.
The soccer club claimed the inaugural USL Super League championship title on Saturday night at Tampa's Riverfront Stadium at Blake High School.
The team finished its first season with 14 wins, 6 losses, and 10 ties. Ten of the wins came at home. The Sun was undefeated in its last six matches.
