CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — Hurricane season is here, and the City of Clearwater is trying to help people get prepared for the storms and how to respond afterwards.
During their second hurricane expo event, city officials shared educational tools and resources that are available to all Clearwater residents.
They said people need to know where they are staying, make a plan, and need to get supplies in advance.
"Last season was one of the most impactful that we've ever had and so, this season, we want people to get educated. Know what stuff you have, what resources you have, know if you're in a flood area, know if you're in an evacuation zone, all this stuff is going to be prepared here. Know how to recover from it and know what kind of insurance stuff, FEMA stuff, any rules like that are all going to be handled here," said Jevon Graham, Division Chief for Emergency Management for Clearwater Fire and Rescue.
All of the city's resources and emergency response units were at the event, including fire and rescue, police, and public works.
Clearwater officials said they will try to plan more educational events in the future for those who couldn't attend Saturday's event.
