TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission just launched a new website for the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail.
The trail is 2,000 miles long and connects over 500 sites for bird and wildlife watching.
One of the new features is the 'Find a Site' map, which allows users to find locations near them and even filter for specific birds they want a chance to spot.
The site also provides highlights for each destination, including a short description, map of the park, a list of amenities and what species you might find there.
FWC also updated their trail location pages, and you can now explore parks by region and see how Florida's natural habitats differ across the state. From the hardwood forests of the Panhandle, the salt marshes and cypress trees of West Florida, to the Everglades in the south, each region offers different scenery and natural features.
There is also a section of the site dedicated to beginner resources like the basics of birding, field and trail guides, an introduction to binoculars and important information to know before you head out on the trail.
