MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, Wy. (WFLA) -- A Florida man was injured after getting too close to a bison at Yellowstone National Park.
The incident happened Sunday at 3:15 p.m. in the Lake Village area of the park, according to a news release from Yellowstone National Park.
A 47-year-old man from Cape Coral was gored by a bison after approaching it. He suffered minor injuries.
This was the first report of a person injured by a bison this year. There were two reported incidents last year and one in 2023.
Park staff urge visitors to keep their distance from animals like bison and deer - specifically, at least 25 yards - and to remain 100 yards away from bears and wolves.
