SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) -- The Florida Highway Patrol said a man from Montana hit another car, fled the scene and tried to get on a plane to fly home.
The crash happened Thursday at 4:40 p.m. on US-41 at Osprey Point Drive in Sarasota.
A 76-year-old New Jersey woman was sitting in a Ford Edge stopped at a stoplight when a Porsche Panamera, driven by 53-year-old Steven T. Sigourney, slammed into her. Sigourney was accused of leaving the area in the car.
Investigators said the hit-and-run driver showed signs of impairment and discovered he possibly had plans to leave the state the next morning. Sigourney was arrested at the Sarasota airport before he could board a plane back to Big Sky, Montana.
Sigourney was booked into the Sarasota County Jail on charges of reckless driving and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage.
